Re.dive Wonderland Demo Impressions: Fall down the Rabbit Hole

, , , , ,

Follow the metaphorical rabbit and fall into the world of Re.dive Wonderland, a game full of fairytales and children’s books you know – except they’re trying to kill you.

The full release of Re Wonderland is currently available in Korean, with an English release planned for November 2026. These impressions are based on the publicly available English demo.

Platform: PC | Demo Length: 1.5 hour

“For the sake of this game’s [Epilogue], I open my eyes once more at the [Prologue].”

Those were the words that instantly drew me into the game. Its story opens with the idea that curiosity is humanity’s downfall, from Eve reaching for the apple to Alice following the White Rabbit – and, as these stories tend to go, everything starts going wrong from the very first page.

I was very surprised with the pixel elements but welcomed in.

Re.dive Wonderland is a visual novel with exploration gameplay elements where Carol (customisable name), a girl with amnesia, wakes up in a prison, confused about where she is. Suddenly, she’s met with a talking biscuit, a monster with blades for arms and a kind stranger named Yuri, who saves her.

Raven, one of the characters Carol meets in Re:dive Wonderland
I pray when I get isekai’d one day for four hot men to find me.

She then meets his companions, two more handsome strangers, Raven and Setsu, and together they tell her what they’ve pieced together: they’ve been transported to a game called [Time in Wonderland: Apocalyptic Chronicles], a Dark Fantasy RPG in which the Queen of Hearts has become power-hungry while the world is dying. Oh, and apparently you are the hero sent to overthrow the Queen of Hearts and save them.

How fun, right? But not for Carol.

My Impressions

A frightening monster suddenly appearing in Re:dive Wonderland
Okay this scared me.

The game deals with themes of fairy tales and stories packages them in an isekai genre (otherworld), and its presentation is extremely polished. In addition to the beautiful sprites, CGs and pixel sprites, it also makes use of paper-cutout visual collages, which add an unsettling, uncanny atmosphere that suits the surreal experience Carol is going through.

The sprites also have eye-blinking and mouth movements, which I know are staples by now, but they always elevate a visual novel for me.

The music also stood out to me, particularly during the more eventful scenes, where its haunting yet beautiful symphony added another layer of atmosphere.

Apart from Carol, the characters are completely voiced in Korean which, no notes, was excellent.

Re:dive Wonderland explaining its game-world mechanics to Carol.

The lore of the game is impressively fleshed out, particularly when it comes to the ‘game’ they’re trapped in. Even the game logic itself is explained in detail—something that is always appreciated in an isekai game world. I also loved how the game’s instructions are incorporated into the story itself. Rather than pulling you out of the narrative with traditional tutorial screens, the game makes learning its mechanics feel like part of Carol’s experience.

Love a bit of fourth-wall breaking!

Although only lightly touched upon in the demo, there are also exploration and puzzle segments to complete. I thought this was a fantastic addition because it doesn’t just add interactivity—it reinforces the feeling that Carol is actually inside a game rather than simply living through a story about one.

Carol and Noah's first encounter
Oh no my weakness: Handsome bishounen man flirting with me!

The highlight for me, unsurprisingly, were the male love interests, who I absolutely adored. The characters are all likeable and, despite fitting into familiar tropes, are packed with enough personality to feel distinct. The pacing of the demo also gives you plenty of time to get to know them naturally, not only through their interactions with Carol but through their relationships with each other. They genuinely feel like a rag-tag group of misfits, and some of their banter actually had me laughing out loud.

Carol with Noah and Raven,
I can tell Raven is going to be the butt of all the jokes…

Carol is thus far presented as the damsel in distress, but to be honest… I’m not complaining. I’m enjoying being saved by all these men. As her role is to be the saviour to everyone, I’m excited to see how her character develops.

Would I Recommend It? YES! ✓

The demo does a great job of introducing its world, characters and story before stopping at a point that left me wanting more. The combination of exploration gameplay and visual novel storytelling was an easy sell for me, but the premise, presentation and characters elevate it even further.

Another love interest in Re.dive Wonderland, Setsu.
I might just die happy right now.

Re.dive Wonderland is a game I would happily get transported into, even with the prospect of dying, if it meant I could experience this journey.

The full game is currently released in Korean, but the English translation will be coming out this November.
