While the ongoing pandemic continues to shut almost everything down across the globe, many of us have been doing our part to contain the virus by staying at home. Gaming has since become a major contributor to this fight, giving those in lockdown entertainment and a way to keep connected.
As a means to say ‘thank you’ and encourage players to stay the course, Sony has officially announced their new Play At Home initiative.

According to details that they have posted on their official blog, Play At Home will have two major aims they hope to accomplish. These are: to provide the community with free games to help keep them entertained, and to secure funding for smaller indie development studios who “may be experiencing financial difficulties” and help them “continue building great experiences for all gamers”.
Sony have designated up to $10 million of funding for these companies, stating “Independent developers are vital to the heart and soul of the gaming community and we understand the hardships and financial struggles that many smaller gaming studios are facing.” Information regarding the fund and how to participate will be made available soon.
To build some excitement and show their commitment to the scheme, the company has announced which games will be made available for a limited time only.
The line-up for those in the US and Europe consist of:
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
Consisting of the remastered versions of one of PS3’s most iconic trilogies, The Uncharted collection takes you on an adventure across the world. Follow Nathan Drake as he journeys through perilous temples and jungles in search of untold treasures, while also battling against mercenaries and mythical creatures alike.

Journey
One of the best indie developed games ever released. Well known for its beautiful and artistic scenery, as well as its unique and wholesome gameplay.

Those residing in Germany and China on the other hand will receive an altered pairing, consisting of both Knack 2 and Journey.
Knack 2
The sequel to one of the PS4’s notable launch titles, Knack 2 is an action/adventure platformer that was released in 2017. It features fun and unique gameplay, stunning visuals, as well as support for offline co-operative multiplayer.

These games are available from April 15th and will remain on offer until the May 5th (It’s gonna be May!). Playstation Plus members also have the opportunity to complete the Nathan Drake saga by downloading this month’s free game – Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
